I picked up the directors cut which I suspect has those same scenes and I really do think it improves the movie a bit over the US release. It's a touch longer of course and a little slower paced, but I like my movies to kind of take their time.

See the overseas ver.It has several scenes that deleted in the U.S. release. I really liked both versions. Not perfect but that's okay.

Yes US Gypsum shut down the mine there and shuttered the town. Gerlach and Nixon are still there.

As far as the environmental impact of burning man... it exists yes. However a great deal of effort is made to minimize that impact which is rather different than if all those people were at home that week. So while I keep it in mind, I also consider it a net win.

My uncle's wife did her master's thesis on the Black Rock Desert: turns out it's a rich and fragile ecosystem, and Burning Man gives her a mighty rage for the damage it does.

What happened to Empire? Did the gypsum mine shut down? Is Gerlach still there?

I mostly love the look of the Skeletool, but I agree it is too bare bones for what I want in a multitool. My main issue with the Fuse was that it didn't have a file which I find myself needing rather often. Also the Wave has blades which open without having to pull out the pliers which is a nice touch. It is a lot bulkier than the Fuse, but not as bad as some.

You make a very good point about the redundancy of the blade considering I almost always have a swiss army knife on me as well... A modular system would be amazing, where you buy a frame and choose the tools you want to include.

I just bought a Leatherman Fuse, which seems like a nice upgrade from the original PST II. The Skeletool seemed not very useful: I already carry a Spydeerco, so if I'm going to carry something else, knife+pliers is a not-so-useful combination.
